"The Crossing"

This video instillation, created by Bill Viola, sets up a contrast between fire and water because of the balance of figures across an axis.  With a symmetrical balance, the figures seen to be mirror images of each other, highlighting the difference between human interaction with fire and with water.  I really like this piece because even though the figures are facing extreme elements, the piece appears stable because of its distribution of visual weight.
