Artist Value
Sally Mann - Hayhook. Sally Mann's work is primarily in black and white, and therefore conducive to analyzing the interplay of value. Mann uses this to her advantage, by using different values to create focal points. In this piece, much of the background has a low value, and there is not much variation in the value. However, the central figure has a very high value, almost white, and that draws the eye immediately to it.
