Tung Nguyen: Color Artist (Frank Stella)
This is "Gran Cairo" (Greater Cairo) by Frank Stella (1962). This piece is a simple exploration of complementary colors. The imaginary lines can be interpreted as pointing both toward the center and outwards into the outside yet it seems to drive the viewer's eyes into the center like a hypnotic device. The simplicity of this piece can also inspire young artists. You don't need to make something greatly complicated. Simplicity is sometimes very underrated.
