Chuck Close's "Emma"

I really like this painting; I've always been fascinated with visual mixing in art, partly because of it's similarity to pixels in televisions and computers. Close up, the colors are perhaps not very vibrant but are nonetheless bold and interesting, especially because many are placed next to their complementary colors. As you back away from the painting, blues and pinks become an almost white highlight on the young girl's forehead, a wide array of colors become the dark shadow under her chin; it's truly beautiful.
