William Eggleston

William Eggleston is a contemporary photographer, known for publicizing color photography as a legitimate art form. This piece, a field of flowers, is particularly striking in its use of color and contrast to create a surrealistic reality. He uses complementary colors (the orange field against the blue sky and purple flowers) to further draw a sense of dischord or the unnatural.
