Sally Mann

"Untitled #1" from the Deep South series of 1998 works by Sally Mann shows the use of value in photography. The image uses neither exclusively low or high values, but rather the two ends of a drastic value scale to show the differences in landscape. The use of value also emphasizes the focal point, the tree and more specifically the deep slice in the tree. Also, the blurred technique gives value an more important role in the photo because it emphasizes the differences in value.
