System Artist: Sol LeWitt
This image, called "Triangle", was completed in 1980 by the American Minimalist Conceptual Artist, Sol LeWitt. This reminded me somewhat of our pen drawings that we completed for Monday, although it is actually a serigraphy (which is a type of silk screening) where layers of ink are pressed through silk screens to make the patterns that look like a painting. As I viewed all of the pen drawings of our class, I was amazed to see the creativity and different approaches we each took to emptying our pens and thought that this reflects the larger idea of art, which is using materials and mediums to communicate a message, any way that may be. Although this piece is simple, it represents a unique type of art work, which must be appreciated.
