I am particularly fond of this piece of art because it reminds me of a coral reef. The artist has successfully explored different textures, and mediums to find a material that transfixes the viewer. I find it extraordinary how the artist manages to turn a mundane object which is primarily functional, into a work of art that holds the viewer in rapture. I connected with this piece of art work on a personal level since I enjoy collecting vintage buttons and it had never occurred to me to incorporate to me to use buttons as part of an art installation.
