Stepping on people
I really like this piece by Do-ho Suh. The contrast between the feet and the little figures is the first thing that meets the eye, and immediately demands a response from the viewer. From the beginning there is something very creepy about the tiny figures being casually stepped on by two giant human feet. The contrast between the black shoes and seemingly nude figures is also striking, portraying the idea of vulnerability versus power. Overall, the composition of the figures is both interesting and creative, and the giant feet make you question your role in the world: are you one of the little figures trapped under the glass? Or the big black shoes stepping on them?
