Mel Chin
In Mel Chin's Invisible Aesthetic, there is a clear sense of his use of art to create awareness around the issue of pollution. By growing plants in a polluted area in Minnesota within a confined space, Chin creates a sense of contrast between the dead-looking and deserted area around the piece and the lively portion sectioned off by the fence. This is art not only for arts sake, but for raising awareness about the issue of environmentalism.
