WWJB- Reverend Billy

This picture shows a Revered Billy performance in the middle of Times Square, New York. Reverend Billy the leader of a group of people called “ Stop Shopping Gospel Choir,” who put on staged performances in chain stores and consumer hotbeds to make people aware of the effects of American materialism on our communities and morality. Taking the persona of an evangelical pastor, he exorcises cash registers and “saves” consumers from the evils of corporations. His performances are a good example of non-traditional public art, linking back to our perspective drawings because he observes reality and attempts to alter it. I really like his performances because they are entertaining and enlightening.
