Marcel Duchamp
I like this piece by Marcel Duchamp very much because it is so dynamic. Duchamp uses both figure repetition and blurry lines to depict the idea of motion, specifically of a man walking down stairs. Through multiple exposures, Duchamp captures the same figure at different moments while he walks down the stairs. Moreover, the parts with the most movement are the most out of focus. Thus, while the man's torso and face are rather sharp, his feet are rarely in focus, suggestive of faster movements. On an unrelated note, I love the lights and darks in this piece, and the composition in general I think is quite beautiful.
