This piece by Shrin Neshat uses an intricate pattern to create visual texture. The work invokes a desire of the viewer to touch the surface of the image. The piece also employs Trompe L’Oeil where the hand appears to be a glove with leather-like qualities. Also, the lips are highly textured and appear to be coming off of the page. The use of varied value (light and dark) is prominent where the light surfaces are highly textured and the black are glossy.
