Bechers- "Tall Furnaces"

This series of photographs, “Tall Furnaces” by Bernd and Hilla Becher, is just one example of the many industrial structures captured by the photographers and put into a series of images. There are multiple cues of visual unity here, the most obvious being color unity, as all of the photographs are black and white. Also, the structures all have similar shapes and angles, which makes them seem like they belong together in the series. I think that all of the twisting pipes makes the pictures look dynamic and flowing despite the fact that they are in a strict grid.
