It is the combination of bright warm colors that strikes me first in this photograph--even the background buildings have a slight yellow tinge. Besides bringing unity to this image with color, Breuer uses repetition in the shape of the cargo boxes and varied repetition in the many long horizontal lines in the horizon and parking lot. This banal uniformity is also highlighted in the gray sky and puddle reflections, evoking a tense calm. But the contrast in the color saturation between the foreground and background make the crates stand out beautifully, an oasis in plain industrialism.
