Joan Miro

This is a painting by Joan Miro. I love the use of vivid colors to accentuate the chicken’s plumes and face, as well as the blue ground with lighter brush strokes to compliment the deep colors of the chicken. The artists uses geometric, non-objective shapes, especially curvilinear shapes, to create an abstract but distinct image of a chicken. These shapes are augmented by the bold colors, which also tend to take the form of geometric and organic shapes, spotting the chicken to give it character and a whimsical feeling.
