Nancy Spero

This installation mobile of sorts gracefully utilizes gravity to create its form.  The sloping curves of the hanging ribbon embodies the notion of organic shapes.  The juxtaposition of rather gory, graphic block printed profiles with these billowing ribbons creates a disconnect for me.  The disembodiment of the heads is exaggerated by this disconnect.  The colors also add to the unease and grotesque quality of this work.  The use of space is also quite interesting in this piece.  The piece itself almost seems parasitic to the surrounding exhibit space, growing on the walls and filling the previously empty space.
