Untitled (Cosmetic Facial Variations) by Ana MendietaThere are many things going on in this piece. By manipulating her shampooed hair, she has created a mask of sorts that exaggerates the main facial features of the eyes, nose, and mouth. The mask makes her resemble a monkey or some other animal. I like the choice of colors. The wall behind her, her skin, and shirt all blend into a washed-out yellow in contrast with the mask.
