I found this photograph by Frank Breuer to be interesting. The first thing that drew me in to this photo is the familiar logo for one of my favorite places as a child. Upon observation I realized that this logo not only stood out due to nostalgia, but also because it was suppose to. This sign is at the center of the photo, which automatically draws attention to it, and it is also the most colorful thing decorating this photo. Yet, at the same time that this sign stands out, it also blends in with the rest of the objects around it—the sign does not seem to be out of place. The metal that serves at the post for the toys “r” us sign serves as a common element between the other objects in the vicinity—the light posts appear to be made out of the same type of metal. The post looks like it runs right into the ground, which in turn flows up the posts of the lights and then into the building behind them. This continuity also gives the feeling of unity.
