Frank Breuer, Untitled, 2003

This photographic work by German artist Frank Brueur uses two main techniques that we have been discussing to create a sense on visual unity. He uses both proximity as well repetition to create an piece of work that is interesting to the viewers' eye and conveys a message about commercial advertisements and slogans. He uses proximity by placing the truck beds on top of one another in an ascending pyramid. Although this is not a natural way for truck beds to be a rest, the way they are strategically stacked on one another creates a sense of unity. Secondly, the repetition of the slogan "Del Monte: Say yes to the best" on the actual trucks allows the viewer to easily place the objects together as one mass. Breuer's use of proximity and repetition in this untitled piece creates a strong sense of unity and togetherness with objects that are not naturally aligned as he positions them.
