Geometric Shape Artist: Piet Mondrian

Mondrian's work stands out in its ability to combine the simplest shapes and the simplest colors to create a cohesive work. While much of his work seems too mechanical to me, its link to architectural theory is interesting, and in this particular work, "Victory Boogie Woogie," I am drawn in by what seems to be a representation of a city. Here, Mondrian communicates so many urban characteristics with so few tools. He fully shows the play between order and chaos that one feels, for example, when walking through New York City.
