Geometric Shape Artist: Piet Mondrian

In this piece, heavy and competing vertical and horizontal lines are unified by the colored rectangular shapes they create. The frequency of intersecting lines and the dispersion of color suggests and emanation or refraction of light in the center of the oval, which dissipates with the dillusion of the colors at the edges of the piece, fading to a more neutral gray. Finally, the sparse curved and diagonal lines create multiple focal points which lead the eye around the composition.
