Negative Space Artists: Tim Noble & Sue Webster

This piece highlights the 2-dimensional negative space surrounding an otherwise unassuming pile of junk. The artists use shadow to reveal the negative space, thereby contrasting both the darkness of the shadow with the lightness of its background, and the chaotic jumble of the pile with the orderly and recognizable outline it creates. Through the use of negative space, two distinctly different elements are unified in a single piece.
