Janine Antoni: Walking

This video installation piece from 2000 demonstrates conceptual unity. Although the two screens are separated by negative space, the video shows legs and feet walking from left to right and leaving footprints behind them. The effect is that it seems as though the person in the video walks to the right edge of one screen, disappears into negative space (which it seems would almost become a solid object blocking the view of the walker), and then reappears in the left side of the next screen.
I enjoy this piece - I find the use of negative space interesting and I like that the artist chose to place the TV screens on their sides. I also simply enjoy the photo - the eeriness of the screens reflecting off of the stark floor and the simplicity of the background.
