Organic Shape Artist: Nancy Spero

Extending to over 90 inches, Nancy Spero's "Girls, Girls, Girls" would be hard to miss. She uses the repetition of the organic shape of an almost stick like, or icon-like, drawing of a girl to create unity in her large print. This repetition of the human form is not entirely rigid; there are actually differences from shape to shape that take away the negative connotation that not having any differences would hold. These differences are given either by the change of color, or subtle differences in printing (one is more faded than the other, etc). Also, she does alternate some shapes to give it illusion of movement.
