Geometric Shape Artist: Mondrian

This piece is one of Mondrian's earlier works, which maybe explains why it is so different from the work he is most famous for. What really attracted me to this piece was his use of softer lines and softer colors. The lines, although they create geometric shapes, aren't as rigid as in his later work; they are more organic, giving it the illusion of movement. Also the colors aren't just elementary like on his later work. They are softer, more pastel, yet still keeping the repetition to give it unity.
