Rachel Whiteread: Untitled (Paperbacks)
This piece, like many of Whiteread's plaster works, is interesting because of its experimentation with positive and negative space. In this case, she made a plaster form in the negative space of bookcases, which then became the positive space of the work. The viewer of the sculpture exists in some "third space" which seems to be both negative and positive at the same time.
