Alicia Dillard:Geometric Shape Artist-Joan Miro

The first thing that caught my eye concerning this work by Joan Miro was the shape and colors. The second thing was the title of the work, “The Woman and the Bird.” For the life of me I cannot see how this looks like a woman and the bird. The spaces between the colored shapes on the length of the sculptor were powerful for me. It is interesting which shaped Miro decided to connect and which ones he left a space between. The other fascinating part of this sculptor is what look like a telescope at the head of this work. It is as if Miro is inviting the viewer to look through the telescope and see into his world; maybe then this sculptor will transform into a woman and a bird.
