Alicia Dillard:Organic Shape Artist-Eva Hesse

I was really intrigued by the sculptor designed by Eva Hesse, entitled “Right after.” The one thing that is blatantly apparent in this sculptor is space. There are dozens of spaces between the fiberglass and wires, and even the sculptor itself takes up a lot of space. By having the sculptor hanging in mid-air the viewer is forced to notice the space both below and above the sculptor. I found the title of the piece to be the most interesting part of this sculptor. The title in itself causes me to stare and wonder, right after what? The other thing that caught my attention is the shadow created by the lights shining down on the sculptor. It is like the shadow is the base and the sculptor is the top and in between is just a layer of empty space.
