Joan Miro

This image is interesting because it only uses simple lines and geometric shapes to catch the viewer's attention.  The simplicity of the shapes would be boring were it not for their interesting overlap, placement, and bright colors. They are used to almost create a creature with a yellow eye.  The use of yellow only in that one area really makes it look like an eye, drawing the viewer's attention to that spot, as if it were the most important spot.  It is also interesting that the black seems more smudgy and less exact than the colors, suggesting that they are of different materials.  I like how she uses such simple shapes to make an interesting piece.
