tim noble and sue webster

Tim Noble and Sue Webster's piece "HE/SHE" is a great example of an artists' use of both positve and negative space simultaneously. The scuptures (or rather compilations of objects) serve as intruiging figures themsleves, not to mention the images they project on the wall. The projections serve as interesting images of negative space. In the viewer's comparison of these two joined yet clearly different pieces of the work, the artist conveys a message of the disjointed yet connected relation between positive and negative space within a work. The work itself holds unity in the viewers recognition of the process, how the image is projected on the wall composed by the shadows of the compilation works.
